I’ve only seen this once and it looked more like a guy who had stumbled upon a few umbrellas because I didn’t see that many on him or any place he might be keeping the rest. I’m thinking he wasn’t a regular umbrella seller because they tend to have an entire cart of umbrellas. It was still very amusing.
These guys are outside Tower Records all the time. Once a friend of mine actually said yes to them, then realized that they weren’t giving CDs for free. I always assumed they were giving free CDs but it makes sense that they’re not otherwise they wouldn’t be getting much done out of being there all day long. I think the CD was $5 or something.
I’ve never bought knockoff batteries from those guys who walk through the subway cars, but I’ve heard stories of the weird misspellings of actual brand names.
