Late night last night? Oh you bet. Though oddly enough I didn’t go to sleep much later than I normally do.

Why no, I didn’t spend last night up very late out with friends only to return home to draw a comic with no backgrounds whatsoever and no real story, why would you think something like that?

The inspiration for this strip is pure fatigue induced hallucinations. I was in a car back home at around 2:00 am and trying to think of a comic idea so that I could draw it quickly and then go to bed. Usually in this case I do a comic where there’s no background of any type and it involves a lot of panels where he’s just standing there. Then the blank stare just made me think of Michigan J. Frog from Looney Tunes. The rest is history.

This is a slightly modified version of what one of my dream journal entries look like. Though I omitted the fact I was giving Winona Ryder driving lessons. Which is pretty much negated by my saying it here. Oh well. Haven’t tried to keep a dream journal since this time.

In the strip I like to go all over the place with exaggerating reality, and presenting reality as it occurred moment by moment. I’m also guilty of relentlessly breaking the fourth wall which is kind of necessary when you only have one main character with no name. This strip and a few more are just treated as if the reader is tuning into a moment in his life which happens to be tremendously uninteresting. Then the character notices them watching, and doesn’t understand their motives to be watching at that particular moment in time. I’ve already done a couple very similar to this which means I have to think of new ideas when I want to be lazy with my drawing.
