Somehow they keep on releasing Tetris, and somehow they keep on convincing me to buy it. Actually this one took very little convincing because as I said, they have the original music in this PSN version of Tetris by EA. I haven’t owned a Tetris game that had the original music since, well, the original. Seriously, I own the original Tetris for gameboy, Tetris DX (my favorite), Tetris DS and now Tetris for PSN. If anyone knows about other Tetris games which have the original music please let me know (just curious). The only other one I know of is Tetris Party for Wiiware.
For those who don’t know, Tetris has been “broken” since the release of Tetris Worlds. In that version of Tetris, they made it so that as long as you kept moving a piece side to side, it would never lock to the bottom of the screen. Also, if you kept rotating it, it would also not lock. This created new Tetris techniques that allowed people to rotate a piece across the screen and also “T-Spin” which involves rotating a T piece into a sideways hole.
I’m an old school Tetris guy, so I have no practice with these techniques and only very occasionally use them. Anyway, the important thing about this Tetris is its online multiplayer which is something that I love in Tetris DS, but the problem is my DS is old which means it only uses WEP wireless security, but my network isn’t configured using WEP which means I’d have to reconfigure it to play online which is a hassle.
I ended up playing Tetris for an hour and a half last night, and only stopped because I realized it was 2 AM and I really needed to write my comic for today. Read my full review here!
