Photos! Okay, so technically this is a photo from my trip to California, apologies. I took this on the bus back to the airport. It was the most interesting photo I had handy so there you have it.

Yes I know his reflection should be in the stone wall at the bottom so don’t bother pointing that out. I wasn’t sure exactly how it should be and didn’t think it was worth figuring out.
Anyway, this is the Kwik E Mart converted Seven Eleven on 42nd street between 8th and 9th avenue. There are a bunch more around the country to promote the Simpsons Movie. When you go in the Indian workers are wearing Apu style shirts. They’re selling squishees, Krusty-O’s, donuts with pink frosting and sprinkles, buzz cola and some other merch. There’re also plastic standees of various characters and a frozen Jasper in one of the freezers.
The donut was fine, just kind of sweet because of all the frosting. The Buzz Cola ended up being a coke but with more sugar. The Krusty-O’s were Froot Loops. Only disappointment is that they’re not selling Duff Beer. Apparently they aren’t doing it because this is supposed to be a family movie or some crap like that so they didn’t want alcohol to be part of the promotion. Missed opportunity if you ask me, you have a TV show that’s basically been advertising for this beer for fifteen years and you don’t give us the opportunity to drink it??
Still though this movie is definitely at least eight years too late. Had this movie come out around then I wouldn’t have felt so empty buying into their promotion.
This was last Monday when I was in midtown and I saw all these police cars. I have no idea why there were so many, but literally the police cars stretched several blocks when they were bumper to bumper. I wish the photo could give you a better idea of just how many there were because I’ve never seen that many on the street at once.
I’m surprised I don’t see more people walking in the street on 42nd. It’s the fastest way to get around there and in Chinatown.
All right so I’m lazy, but I wanted to do this photo because the first photo comic I ever did was this shot of the character sitting on the subway. I thought since I’ve established at this point that the person in the middle is awake and the person on the left is asleep that it’d be amusing to revisit this shot. Plus it lets me see how closely my illustration matches (or doesn’t match).
If you’re in New York and you like indie comics most likely you’re going (went) to Mocca this weekend. I went to Commerce Bank yesterday and cashed in my enormous jars of loose change and proceeded to spend basically all of it on comics. Today I think I plan on getting T-shirts and stuff to hang up on my wall at work. Already two people I’ve bought stuff from are almost certain they’ve met me before, but I’m guessing there’s another hipster looking Asian guy with thick black framed glasses out there.
If you caught this reference right away you’re way too familiar with my comic. That’s not true, it’s only come up once before. This little area was redone and this was the first time I sat down in it since.
