It was late at night and I was struggling to remember the comic idea I had earlier in the day. He-Man was on TV and fatigue got the best of me which made me choose this easy way out. Time seriously has not been kind to He-Man. Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Sealab 2021 also make it impossible to go back to any show from that era. It also doesn’t help that they look like Scooby Doo when they’re running. When I was a kid I always thought He-Man was shouting “I HAVE NO POWER!!!” It didn’t make sense to me

#6003 reason the internet will make me seem old is remembering the beginnings of streaming video. Back when the choices were janky Realplayer and Windows Media which I couldn’t use because there wasn’t a Mac version for the longest time. Even then it was like a stamp sized video that had a data rate of probably 6k/sec and looked like total crap. Yet now I can watch E3 Press events basically while they’re happening at very decent video quality. I like that I’m in this generation where during our lifetime technology really exploded and improved exponentially so we experienced both sides of it.
Anyway, I was watching the Microsoft press event and later the EA press event going on at E3. Some cool stuff, some I’m very excited for like Dead Space 2, Metal Gear Solid: Rising and the Kinect (Project Natal) stuff looking pretty cool. I will say though, Microsoft has the worst most artificial, unnatural demo people doing their presentations. I think it’ll still take more than Wii sports clones to justify purchasing Kinect for my 360, but it’s looking very cool.
The big question though will be what is the minimum distance a player has to be from the TV? Obviously in all their almost-Wii commercial ads they have these super awesome suburban homes with enormous living rooms. I think I have one of the largest living rooms of people I know in the New York area, but I know I’d still have to rearrange furniture in order to play like they do in these commercials.
Also, note to Microsoft. Real animals don’t smile like your CG pet animals do. When you make your animals do stuff like that it’s not cute it’s creepy.

This is how it starts. One day you buy an electronic device and you decide not to try pressing ALL the buttons on the remote or seeing every single option in the menu. Then you start complaining about said device realizing your complaints are completely unfounded. Now I’m wondering what other electronic devices I’ve bought recently that I don’t know inside and out.

I was talking to a friend of mine about this type of situation and how awesome it is that since our friends got real jobs this happens more often than not. Everyone has their own stories about when everyone put in their share of the bill and yet managed to be short the total check or worse, really short the total check. During college trying to get those last however it’s damn near impossible trying to get the many dollars out of people who all know in their mind they paid how much they were supposed to. In the end there’s at least some people who felt they got the short end of the stick.
Knock on wood.

Anyway, I’m really bad at word games in general, probably because I didn’t read a lot growing up and still don’t really read. I’m not so good at Scrabble or Boggle, my mind just doesn’t wrap itself around them well.
So after my first Facebook thrashing I was talking to some of my other friends and one mentioned the dictionary tab which has a well organized list of all the two letter words in the dictionary. Of course I slapped myself for not seeing it in the first place. I think I’m past the point where I click on every button and menu in a piece of software or something. This is where I discovered a wealth of two letter words that don’t seem like words at all.
I know that you can’t use abbreviations in Scrabble but apparently you can use shortened versions like “AB” for “abdominals” , or “AG” short for “agriculture.” Also apparently lots of interjections in the dictionary like: aw, ai, eh, hm, ho, lo, mm, oi, oy, sh, uh, um, and yo.
I did better in my second game (still currently a hundred points behind) but I just don’t like using the two letter word tactics, it just feels cheesy to me. Plus I have enough distractions at work as it is so I don’t think I’ll be doing much more of the Scrabble after this.

Might seem like a weird and ignorant thing to say, but I’ve been thinking this a lot lately. Really until became president I never followed current events all that much, and especially not to the extent I did during this past presidential campaign. I guess also until six or so years ago I didn’t have a real job so current events and the economy didn’t affect my world much. It’s almost like “the news” was something totally separate from my life going on somewhere else in the world. But talking to friends about how their companies (of all different types) are having trouble is a hard dose of reality. It’s like “Wow, things really ARE bad in the country now.”

My girlfriend was looking at my cell phone and its antennae which I never extend commenting that no one does that anymore. It’s really true, why bother even having it anymore? Does it help at all? It made me realize that whenever I see Fox Mulder from “The X-Files” extending his cell phone antennae before he uses it I’ll laugh a little bit inside.

There’s this cereal “Oh’s!” that’s really sweet. I used to eat it with milk for breakfast. Basically they’re crunchy cheerios with some kind of nutty filling or something. Besides breakfast I would just snack on them. I like snacking on cereal so I decided to get a box since I hadn’t had it in years. I got it and after the first bowl or so it just stayed on my shelf for a very long time until it was stale. It was so freakin’ sweet that I couldn’t really finish a bowl in one sitting without getting a stomachache. That made me feel old.
