The heat in my apartment can really suck sometimes. I’ve never resorted to putting my sheets in the dryer to get them warm, but there have been times when it could’ve been useful.

Yup, it was still cold. I think when the character isn’t doing anything but talking I feel the need to put him on a bus stop. Notable exceptioins include when it’s 4:00 am when I’m doing my comic and I don’t feel the need to justify the context of my comics.

Single digit temperatures suck. That’s when I think of that famous Calvin & Hobbes comic where he says “Don’t you hate it when your boogers freeze?” I have only had this happen on a couple extreme occasions, and they all involved single digit temperatures.

I always say that living in New York is all about extreme temperatures both during Winter and Summer. In the Winter it’s warm on subway cars, over subway vents, vents on big buses, and vents from dryers for laundromats. Whereas the street in general is cold, plus subway platforms and if you’re very unlucky, your apartment. My apartment is very hit and miss with how the heat is, but only one time since I’ve lived in New York did I have a night without heat and that wasn’t at my apartment. If that were to happen again I’d definitely crash at a friend’s place because you never realize how cold it can get indoors until you have a night like that.

The heating system in my apartment is very arbitrary, but there’s always the initial moments coming in out of the cold when it’s really nice and toasty. Though I think I prefer my apartment the way it is as opposed to some I’ve been in which get sweltering hot to the point that you can’t breathe unless you open a window.

I’d never have the guts in real life to do something like this. I’m usually the one tugging on the sleeves of my friends because we’re in the restaurant past their posted closing hours. If I were to write this comic again I’d choose something a lot colder than fifty degrees, because as I write this 30 degrees sounds downright balmy to me.
