This was a while ago at the DMV. They have a large grid of numbers because they have to serve so many people. I was very excited to see what came after 999. To say 800 was a disappointment would be a gross understatement.

I have this cool split-flap clock that, after displaying 1:59 displays 2:59 for about half a minute (this differs per hour) then shows 2:00

Haha. I could live with something like your clock because at least in that situation I could understand the reason behind the malfunction, but there’s no logical reason for 800 to come after 999 so it drove me crazy. Well, not crazy but I was very surprised.
