Oftentimes when I’m leaving my building in the morning, one of the building staff is vacuuming the carpet leading to the doorway. Though this comes up whenever I see someone cleaning one of two surfaces in a hallway. Do you walk upon the area they’ve just spent a while cleaning or walk on the other surface?

But maybe they cleaned the other surface earlier and you’re making it dirty again? Maybe it’s better to dirty the one they’re already cleaning because they have in their hands the means to clean it whereas the other surface would have to wait or would require different tools.

Why yes, I do think like this ALL THE TIME. I think I have a tendency to walk on the surface that isn’t the one currently being cleaned.
