Someone I used to know once gave me two presents that were hilarious because they showed the precise misguided thought process that went behind them. One was Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit, the other was a book called “Geek Chic” which was written by someone who is a self-professed non-geek who admits in their blurb they had to consult friends to write the book which is basically trying to chronicle key moments in geek history. Sure I like the Lord of the Rings movies, but Trivial Pursuit? Only way this would be appropriate is if I was also a board game geek too, otherwise it’s really not in the ballpark. I’m trying to get rid of it on craigslist right now.
