No really, how hard is it really? This is basically what happened with “Kung Fu Hustle.” Why make things harder for themselves?

“Hero” came out mostly unspoiled, but I still hold onto my Hong Kong DVD because of a few notable translations that suck. Namely the two words that Tony Leung draws in the sand to convince Jet Li not to kill the emperor. The actually translation roughly means “All Under Heaven” meaning that the greater good of the people is more important than the personal grudges of individuals. The stupid Miramax translation is “Our Land” which just has a totally different meaning and feel to it. The especially dumb/cheesy footnote is the final card that says something like “To this day, the Chinese people refer to their country as ‘Our Land.'”

It’s painful…
