I think word is starting to get out that I was the one who posted the sign in the kitchen asking for my spoon back. It doesn’t matter so much since my spoon is in the cup at my desk, but if people know how anal I am about my own spoon it can’t hurt.

Okay so it’s kind of a retread of yesterday’s comic, but I wanted to give an update. So my spoon still wasn’t returned after lunch time so I made a sign that read something like: “Do you have a metal spoon at your desk that isn’t yours? Well it’s probably mine. Please wash it and return it to the dish rack. Actually it’s TWO spoons. Thank you.
The spoon I most recently brought to work was in the sink by the end of the day, but still no sign of the first one which went missing a while ago. I’m not holding out as much hope for that one, but we’ll see.

So yesterday during lunchtime my spoon was gone AGAIN! Even worse is that by the end of the day it still hadn’t returned. If it’s not there tomorrow I’m leaving a note in the kitchen, and if/when I get it back that spoon is staying at my desk when I’m not using it. Grrrrrr.

Ages ago I brought my own metal spoon to work for when I’m eating lunch I bring to work. At some point it mysteriously vanished. So I brought another spoon and a day or two afterwards found it in the sink meaning someone else was using it. Is it naive of me to think that people when eating lunch will look at a spoon and say “Hey, this isn’t my spoon I will not use this.” I know what spoon is mine and I know that the spoons aren’t property of the company and therefore not communal. Is this just me or is this a little gross?

This is just an excuse to make a comic about the Google 10th year anniversary 2001 Index page which lets you use Google as it was in 2001. A friend and I were doing this all yesterday looking up prominent sites, movies, video games and such that didn’t exist back then. No facebook, no myspace and all that fun stuff.

I have a friend at work who likes sending links to all of his friends in the office (often without looking at it himself first), so sometimes he forgets where he got it from. In more than one occasion he has sent a link I sent to him back to me. I always make fun of him when he does it.

You already understand this if you work in an office which has no internet filter, and also has a lot of people who use instant messaging of any kind. I wouldn’t call link sending an art per se, but there’s definitely a right and wrong way to do it. This is about a friend I have at work (now I’ll know if you read my comic or not) who loves sending links to everyone he’s friends with at the office.
Problem is that he doesn’t always look at them before sending them out, or sends them to people who end up having no interest in them. When I send links I know the person I’m sending them to will enjoy them and/or it won’t take up too much of their time. Sending a nearly ten minute movie clip is not a good idea. Sending a picture of a REALLY CUTE cat however is (assuming they like cats).

I’m sure everyone in New York does this. The train is approaching the station so you look around to see who is shuffling for their bags. Or even before it’s arriving and you see someone put their hand on their bag’s handles instead of resting them. Sometimes it’s a fake out though and maybe they were just getting ready too soon. Or they’re just adjusting their hands’ position.

Yesterday was just about the longest I’ve gone without internet at work. Yes I’m sure overall productivity goes up somewhat if a company doesn’t allow recreational use of the internet, but I work at a job which sometimes requires me to be waiting for long periods of time either rendering or digitizing footage. In fact I was doing that on my computer and a separate computer which means there was doubly less for me to do. By the time the day was over I felt like what can only be described as a blob.
