I wrote this strip on Monday night, but if the weather holds up its end of the bargain it’s a ridiculously warm 62° today. Seriously, this is ridiculous. Isn’t it supposed to be 20° or something? At least 30′s I’d say but instead the rest of the week it’s going to be in the 40s. Times like this I try to remember in “An Inconvenient Truth” which parts of New York would be underwater if the Earth’s temperature went up a couple degrees.

I’ve never been called out like this, but I do think this sort of thing during the Winter when it’s really cold.

Thank you weather for toying with me and possibly prolonging my cold. Wednesday was almost 70° supposedly then Thursday was in the 60s and got colder in the evening. Then all of a sudden we have this crazy sleet storm. When I saw that on my weather widget I figured “Oh, well it’s been so warm it’ll just be a little and it’ll melt almost right away.” Yeah, last night I was trudging through snow that was at least three inches deep and now all the sidewalks have really deep puddles at their corner. Also Friday morning I woke up with the sniffles even though the night before I was basically fine. Now I’m blowing my nose like there’s no tomorrow and still coughing. SUCKS! Most. Backwards. Cold. Ever.

I’m not sure how it is in the rest of the country relative to last winter, but this winter has been really damn mild lately. Of course because I’ve said that now it’s probably going to be bitter cold, but according to the forecast it’s never going to dip below 40 degrees for the next week. I’m not complaining by any means, I love walking around without a hat or scarf. I just get a tad concerned on a global scale when I hear about how each year is warmer than the previous one.

This was me yesterday morning. I still love Fall, but when it starts getting colder the transition is tough because it really treads the line. I think pretty much all buildings aren’t sure when they should start turning on the heat when a week can have days when it’s 70 degrees or if it’s 50 degrees. I wear a light jacket on the colder days and it works just fine, but getting into the subway yesterday morning was pretty hot and sweaty because it was the first time I noticed the heat was turned on. Plus I was on the subway closer to peak travel time because I had to go into work early so there were a lot of people. Still better than Spring.

I love the film “Shaolin Soccer” for many reasons, but the best idea it presents is the idea of a utopian society where people use kung-fu to aid them in real life events and problems. I think that film has one of the most gratifying endings I’ve seen in a movie before. Stephen Chow really knows how to pull the strings to entertain the audience, which is why I’m so excited about “Kung-Fu Hustle.”
I almost fell down on my ass today when I left work because the sidewalk was particularly slippery. Fortunately I didn’t fall down completely and managed to catch myself so that I could avoid complete and utter embarrassment, and wet jeans. I think I need some boots. Even as I type that sentence, I can hear my mom emailing me.
