I know I’ve done a comic where I’ve expressed interest in emergency cords, but it’s just always there staring you in the face right next to the emergency cord. Tons of explanation about when NOT to use it. When is it appropriate? Godzilla attack?

Without fail I always want to know what someone is playing whether it’s a PSP, Nintendo DS or a Gameboy Advance. Moreso for the Nintendo DS, but for whatever reason most of the time people aren’t playing games which require the stylus which is more fun to watch. I still haven’t seen anyone blowing on their DS for various games, but I know other people have seen me. In Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass there’s a part which requires you to scream into the microphone, but later on a character says something to the effect of “You know, yelling into your DS could make you really silly. Good thing you know you can just snap your fingers in front of the microphone, right?” Even that makes you look kind of dumb in public.

The 34th street station at Broadway is the most swelteringly scorching hot and humid subway station I’ve experienced on a regular basis. It can be fine wearing a sweatshirt outdoors, but once you step in you want to strip down to a shirt and shorts. I’ve found a couple places within a few feet of each other where there’s some a/c except it’s not on a platform unfortunately.

Can’t take credit for this one because it was my friend M.Y. who pointed this out to me. These red metal things in the wall. I originally thought that there were wires going through them but no, it’s just metal. Anyone know what they’re for?
UPDATE!: A friend of mine has informed me that this red metal bar is in fact an art installation! I think I find this revelation more interesting than the art itself. But here you go!

I saw this on Gothamist. There are actually some very useful tips for people who are visiting New York. Like how to ask for directions (ask for a cross street), which cabs aren’t taken and how Fifth Avenue divides Manhattan into the East and West side.
But of course mine is all about how tourists affect me, and the number one way just has to be getting in the way when I’m walking down the sidewalk. I work in midtown and also frequently go to Chinatown which are two places heavily populated by tourists. Chinatown has tiny tiny sidewalks and midtown has just a crap ton of tourists so both ways they’re getting in my way. Though in Chinatown and Times Square most of the time I just walk in the street.
