Whenever food service people explain stuff like this to mean I just picture all the annoying people that came before me who sent food back because there’s any modicum of it that appears to be uncooked even though the food is listed on the menu as is.

The mind seriously races when you’re locked out. I thought up a ton of ideas for a Twine game about getting locked out that I think I’ll make at some point.
Whenever I hear someone say a celebrity was “normal” I try to imagine what it is they would have to do in order to not be considered “normal.” The conclusion I come up with is that they would have to act like they were above non-celebrities and I guess talk about “rich people stuff.” I think also not being self sufficient would probably be something else that would be abnormal, that is they weren’t the sort of person who takes out their own trash or does dishes.
But just being a nice and decent human being is all people are thinking of when they say “normal.”
I often find myself somewhat curious about psychology of internet commenters. I think most of them can boil down to just wanting to be heard and feeling powerless because that’s something most people can identify with. I’ve often seen horrible commenters who instantly become apologetic and meek once they find out someone is actually listening to them. Some are just horrible trolls to be sure, but I think most just want attention, to feel like they matter and to belong.
Also I know that all internet commenters aren’t young insecure kids, but man reading some comments makes me enjoy my 30s like crazy. Confidence is a really really hard thing to gain and not caring what others think is at least as hard. I don’t think it’s possible to be 100% confident or to not care, but I’m definitely better off now than I used to be.
I was in the park exercising when I heard a “crinkle” sound like a plastic bottle. Then I was confused because I didn’t see anyone around collecting bottles. Then I saw a large crow and realized it was making the sound because it probably had some plastic stuck inside of it.
Seriously, I’ve never to my knowledge left a piece of trash behind when I went to a park. Who are the people who do this?? Is it because they know there are people whose job it is to pick it up so they think it’s okay to leave it behind? It’s SO EASY to throw away your garbage. Ugh.
This is what it’s come to.
This is actually a story that a friend of mine told me when they were at coffee shop in Santa Monica.
Oh and today’s the 12th anniversary of Kick in the Head! According to my comic’s folder that’s nearly 3500 strips (and photos from when I was doing that) O_O
Thanks to everyone who is still enjoying the strip!
Gelson’s is kind of like a Whole Foods. A supermarket that is very clean and organized looking with a lot of organic stuff and high prices. But they still have normal brand stuff like Fancy Feast and apparently charge a TON MORE than everyone else. I normally buy my canned cat food from PETCO via their website because it’s easier to get 24 packs of certain foods that way than going to a store. I hadn’t timed my order right so I just needed some to last me until the shipment arrived.
It still amazes me that the exact same cat food was SO MUCH more expensive at a supermarket only a few blocks from another one. It’s not like Ralphs is some trashy supermarket, I guess it’s just that Gelson’s is that much more full of themselves that they know they can charge their customers that much more.
I started jogging recently because I wanted to improve my endurance for my kung fu practice. Then the other day I caught my jogging shoes in the corner of my eye and my first impulse was “Those aren’t my shoes” which was immediately followed by “Who is here??”
I think it’s a universally truth that arguing over the internet is just never a good thing. Arguments have nuance, subtleties and usually opinions aren’t so simple. But on the internet, where every single sentence can be screencapped, isolated or at worst fabricated, those are treated as the definitive “opinion” of the person attached to it. Also, it’s a permanent record that exists in the world and opinions can change over time or people can rethink things and come to new realizations.
Also on the internet (and in real life) once people are associated with a certain opinion, it’s very difficult to publicly change it because that’s interpreted as weakness or possibly some form of corruption or both. So then it becomes about defending the position instead of the reason the position exists, if that makes sense at all.
Anyway, this itself is an incomplete thought but I just wanted to make this gif 😛
Long story short, people are complicated and nuanced, but over the internet we try to find the one thing to agree or disagree with and then label people accordingly. And that kind of sucks.
I find myself in this situation with the temperature too. Then I feel stupid and just open a window. Or in the case of living in California, I just look to my right where my balcony sliding door is barely ever closed unless I’m using the air conditioner.
Also here’s another official trailer that I was freelancing on. LEGO Batman 3!
