I’m not counted amongst the unfortunate few who have seen someone on the train sleeping/urinating (though I’ve heard stories). I was however privy to this person who was one of the most disgusting people I’ve seen on the subway. This guy is the first person I’ve ever seen who spit on THE DOOR. He was just standing facing the doorway and without batting an eye just spit a huge loogie on it. I know some people spit on the platform as soon as the doors open, but wtf???
Then after that he proceeded to pick his nose in just about the most explicit way possible. You’d think he was trying to reach his brain. He wasn’t even using his pointer finger, it was his middle finger! He looked like Quaid in Total Recall with the huge bulge in his nose from taking the bug out of his head. *shudder*

I’m usually pretty grossed out about spitting, but hochhing up a huge thing of phlegm after you’ve had a cold for a while is one of the most satisfying feelings you can have. For days your throat has been gross and all of a sudden you feel like you’ve either cleared it finally or emptied out half of the contents. Hell yeah.

Yes I did spit a loogie onto the tracks that landed square on the rail. Yes I thought up this entire scenario on the spot (minus the people inside the subway car). Yes I’m overly paranoid and silly. I promise tomorrow’s strip won’t be about my phlegm, I swear.

Yes this has happened to me (at least through panel 5), and from here on out whenever I have a cold I’m sure my friends will remember this one (assuming they read this comic). This is a pretty disgusting topic so I’m not going to comment anymore.

I’ll admit here and now that I tend to be more of a sniffer than a blower. Blowing my nose never gave satisfactory results whenever I do it. Sometimes my nose feels like it has even more stuff in it afterwards. Though if it’s ever that bad neither provides the relief you hope it would. Though despite being more of a sniffer I would never let it get this far in public, especially if I’m around friends. Sometimes though there just isn’t a convenient place to throw away used tissues and the idea of carrying this mini germ colony in my pocket has never been all that appealing.

I have a couple strips which are very long for pacing reasons, this one especially. I think just about everyone has had an encounter with someone like this. Either they have a horrible smoker’s cough, or they’re just chock full of unsavory things in their throat. Sometimes it just feels like it goes on forever.
When my landlord was replacing all the apartment doors in my building there was a big hole in the frame leading to my neighbor’s apartment. Turns out my neighbor has the worst smoker’s cough I’ve EVER heard. Little did I realize just how soundproof my walls actually were, because previously when I heard the coughing it sounded like was coming from across the hall.
I’m not sure how well it comes across in this strip that he’s pinching himself to see if he’s dreaming. Some people thought that he spit on the roach and that’s why the sludge was moving. No one I showed this comic to at the time seemed to understand the possibility of New Yorkers coughing up new and disturbing lifeforms.
