Union Square photos are a definite sign that I was being lazy, because I often catch the subway at Union Square to go home. So what happens is I’ll snap a shot before I get on the subway since I don’t usually feel like taking photos in my neighborhood. Also since this is a blurry photo you can tell I was really hurting for photos since I wouldn’t usually use a blurry photo.
Looking at this now I realize that’s he’s much too tall for the size that I’ve established for him at this point. Oh well.
Ew, that window’s pretty dirty. I’ve been meaning for a while to take a photo of the skyline out of the subway window so that I could use that for the silhouette of the city for my comic but I still haven’t gotten around to it (as of the writing of this rant). I’ve downloaded pictures of the New York skyline but they never look interesting enough somehow. Plus sometimes I have trouble finding one that’s as long as I want it to be.
The scale of the character is kind of funny if you think about it. I never set out a proper scale for him in relation to the real world. I just kind of wing it picture to picture. As such I’m sure someone could go through the photos and find that his height varies wildly from picture to picture. The thing is that his proportions make his head really huge despite being almost half the height of an adult person.
This photo was taken while I was out with friends and we decided to take some photos by the Christmas tree at Rockerfeller center. Early on I was thinking of the logic of these photos in terms of who is taking them, but it stopped bothering me after a while. I was under the general impression that people weren’t reading that deep into them.
This is the very first photo comic I decided to do. This had actually been my wallpaper for my computer for a while before I decided to actually put this on the site. But a friend of mine saw it and thought that it was really funny so I thought I’d give it a shot. I don’t know what originally possessed me to do this in the first place, I was just in a goofy mood I guess. I think the photo was originally just taken so that I could draw the subway seats with more accuracy since before I was just making it up.
I also saw these photo comics as an opportunity to goad myself into taking photos again since I was a photography major in college for one year. But laziness has taken over and usually I take a photo of anything at the last minute just so that I can have something for a comic on the weekend. At some point I even dip into my old college photos for material since I was running so low. I don’t really feel that I’ve done everything I could possibly do with this set up, but I’m always trying to come up with new ideas.
