So I have the new computer, and I’ve pretty much done all the basic things I can do take advantage of its speed. It is a joy to scroll through windows with great speed whether they’re web pages, iTunes or iPhoto (a notoriously clunky and memory hoggy app), and also to open and close big apps like Final Cut Pro and Photoshop just to see how fast it goes. There aren’t many Intel exclusives that I can think of now other than Mac OS 10.6, Google Chrome and Steam (and their games) so I think I’ve exhausted that for the moment.
I was eyeing the LucasArts adventure pack on Steam which for $10 I could get both Indiana Jones games, The Dig and Loom. I haven’t played the Last Crusade game or Loom, but I do have a soft spot for classic LucasArts adventure games. Mac section of Steam still has tons of catching up to do, I’d like the older LucasArts games to be on there, but maybe I’ll just get some of them via the PC side of Steam once I get my Windows VM set up.
But yeah, mostly right now after the glow has worn off I find myself looking for excuses to use my computer but currently lacking any memory intensive tasks. I have a little editing work to do for a friend but it’s all in SD. It’s like I just got a new awesome weapon in an RPG and the only thing around me to kill are little level 1 guys.
