There was a lunar eclipse today but of course not only did I get to it until it was almost over but by the very nature of a lunar eclipse it’s not all that interesting to look at for one frame.
I’m such a huge nerd. I was looking for something to take a picture of last night when I saw that the moonlight reflecting off of this spire of a building looked cool. But alas I couldn’t get a good angle where I could lean my camera against something so that it wouldn’t be a completely horribly blur. So I got closer and took this photo and when I saw the preview in my camera the first thing I instantly thought was Quantum Torpedo. For the uninitated, those are the more powerful Photon Torpedos of Star Trek fame, first introduced in Star Trek Deep Space Nine if I’m not mistaken. Not to be confused with Proton Torpedos from Star Wars.
You can’t tell so well from this picture, but last night the moon was indeed a sight to behold. Though shortly after I told several of my friends to get out and look at the moon I realized a friend had asked me earlier that night if I had seen the moon on Thursday night (when it was full). I hadn’t, and now I realize that perhaps last night’s moon wasn’t as interesting as the night before. If only I had had my tripod when I took this on the street. Oh well.
This is only partially true. Yes, I do like the night time because there’s no glare on my TV when I play video games (I need bigger curtains), but that’s certainly not the first reason. Last night was a positively gorgeous night, and the night before wasn’t too shabby either. It’s a great feeling just to be able to go outside without a jacket on. Yesterday was actually the first day this season that I had left for work with only a T-shirt and it was great. Though I do like having the extra pockets of a jacket. Eating outdoors on a beautiful night is a truly wonderful thing, and I look forward to several months of those opportunities.
I’m usually pretty down on Spring because all I usually remember are the cold and rainy days, but I realize that when I’m thinking of the rain I’m forgetting about the flowers and leaves growing back which does wonders for the mood. I think I still stand by Fall as my favorite of the mild seasons, but I’m willing to give Spring a second chance.
These rooftops are scary because there’s no fence or of any kind. Most of them just slope upwards slightly to the edge. Some of them don’t even slope, it’s just an edge. Still, I’d love roof access. I would so love roof access. That’s on my list of things I’d want for my next amazing apartment.
