I was at Bed Bath & Beyond when a guy asked to cut in line. He was buying some candy, I let him go without asking what he was going to see, but I was curious afterwards.

Actually I left the city yesterday to hopefully beat some of the traffic. So long Greyhound suckers!!! I know the line won’t be this long, but it might as well be considering the absolute hell Port Authority will be. I got my Bolt Bus tickets about three weeks in advance and the total travel still came to around $45. Whoo hoo! And no Mr. Nit-picker, the Bolt Bus stop isn’t around Port Authority. Actually when I drew this I was thinking of Penn Station so that’s what the drawing actually is of, but I had to do three comics in one night so I didn’t want to change it.
I passed by New York Costume on Broadway last night and seriously the line was at least a block long, it was pretty ridiculous. I wonder how long it took for the person in back to go and get their costume.
Okay so this guy didn’t actually ask for one that was moister, but everything up to then was the truth verbatim. He wanted an explanation for why his pretzel was so hard? Because it was a crappy pretzel that’s why!
You know this is happening to SOMEONE tonight, possibly thousands of someones. I can see the meeting room of the movie studio when they decided to release “Mamma Mia!” the same weekend as “The Dark Knight.” Someone saying “the demographics of the people who will go see ‘Mamma Mia!’ are different enough that ticket sales won’t be affected.” Yeah right. If only there was a way to see how much it would’ve made any other weekend of the year. This is even disregarding the negative reviews it’s getting already.

I went to my usual Mexican takeout place yesterday and the line must’ve been eight people long. I was really dead set on Mexican food so I waited. Seriously though it was the longest I’ve ever seen the line. Is it the weather that’s making people go get takeout Mexican food? A couple came in and asked if the food was worth the wait. My burrito wasn’t wrapped very cleanly so it fell apart quickly but it still tasted good. Yum.
I can actually think of a bunch of reasons someone would mail something from Manhattan to another place in Manhattan, but the idea of waiting in the hell of a post office line is what made me think it was so odd. Though surprisingly this is one time waiting in line at the post office wasn’t entirely painful.
I wouldn’t say I have it down to a science yet, but I know that sometimes you can swipe too early and by the time you’re pushing the turnstile it still hasn’t kicked in and it’ll stop short for a second and then let you through. But the woman yesterday waited until the “GO” light had completely turned off before swiping her card. Yes, I probably care way way too much about this.
I was at the Film Forum to see No End in Sight (which was extremely good, horrifying, enfuriating, and informative at the same time) and the men’s room line was at least six guys out the door whereas there was absolutely no line for the women’s room. Everyone passing by or in line made some remark in the order of “Heh heh, what’s wrong with THIS picture. Oh my god you never see this!” And yes it’s quite true, it was fairly amusing. Only thing I could think of is that the manliest of man movies ever had just gotten out and there were that many more men who went to see the movie than women. Other than that I can only think that I had crossed dimensions into the Bizarro World.
This is just me again commenting on those people waiting for Macys to open. I only did this because I was briefly considering going to a Bestbuy or Circuit City this morning to get God of War II (until I realized they open when I need to be at work). Then I I thought again about the Macys and last time I did a comic sort of on this bent the actual comic wasn’t as directly related as I planned on originally. But yea, hopefully by the time I get home today I’ll have a copy of God of War II (preferably not purchased from a Gamestop or EB Games because those guys are crooks) and my PS2 will be cooperative despite the recent increase in temperature. Crap, it’s going to be almost 70° tomorrow (that’s “crap” in a disbelieving way not in a manner expressing disapproval).
