From what I hear, the Teen Choice Awards were kind of like this. Weird because I thought that the MTV Awards were the Teen Choice Awards. Why does there need to be another award show to reward the same/only movies that teens care about? They should just remove all pretense and just name the awards after the people they like and call them the “Award for existing.” This reminds me of Craig Ferguson’s awesome rant on “Why everything sucks.”

The 4-year-old kid wasn’t actually nagging me about the game I was playing on my phone, but she was alternately interested in playing with her friend (or it could’ve been her sister) and then in random intervals she would very obviously look over to see what I was doing on my phone. To give you an idea, if I had moved my elbow slightly it probably would’ve hit her in the face. After a little bit of this I just put my phone away.

We’ve been waiting for school to be over so that our mornings will be much quieter, but then it occurred to me that when we go to matinees now at the movies there’s a far greater chance that there will be kids at those movies. I think a little lost sleep is the lesser of two evils here.

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a movie being made which is ostensibly a live action version of Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots starring Hugh Jackman. When the first trailer came out my reaction was largely “Uh, what?” but I was still kind of interested in a goofy sort of way ’cause you know, fighting robots. Yesterday I watched the second trailer and that’s when I realized that kids are the cold shower of action movie trailers.

I actually gave the charity worker a very honest “I’m okay with kids” which she laughed at. I might’ve said something different had it been 8 AM at which point there are dozens of screaming children playing in the courtyard outside my window.

The kids in the courtyard outside our window can be very very loud. Anna was saying that soon it will probably be too cold outside for them to play. Immediately after she said that I pictured myself like a Bond villain stroking a cat looking down upon the kids saying that in a villanous voice that ended up being more Mr. Burns than anything.

It’s true. The price of having a cool phone that can do a lot of stuff is that you have to control how much stuff you want to let it do on its own lest it runs itself out of energy. I’ve actually been having pretty good battery life recently, but for some reason yesterday it inexplicably went down to 20% while I was playing some Uncharted 2 multiplayer. I don’t have auto-syncing turned on for anything but email. My guess right now was that my weather widget was having trouble connecting and trying to connect all the time ran the battery down.

While I was in Boston for PAX East I overheard this group of teenagers (at least I think they were teenagers, I think once I’m old enough everyone college age and under I’m just going to refer to as teenagers). This girl said just this, that her boyfriend broke up with me and she was really upset and put out that he had so quickly unfriended her on facebook. Because you know, it’s really traumatic to have 2300 friends on Facebook and then see it go to 2299, I’m sure it’s very embarrassing and much more distressing than breaking up with someone.

It’s funny, but you see a lot of parents who really manage to just carry that baby stroller down the stairs by themselves and you don’t really think about it. But when you actually help out to carry one you forget that kids actually can be fairly heavy. Or maybe it was just me getting caught off guard and/or having unrealistic expectations of how light the stroller would be.

Turns out closing windows doesn’t drown out the sound of playing kids that much. I also blame the fact that I still have my a/c in the window, but it still felt funny to close all the windows and notice no change in sound level.
