I’m a white bread kind of guy. I like my sandwiches to be easier to eat, and I like to feel full from the ingredients not the bread. I’ll sometimes have basic wheat bread, but I’m never going for these multigrain breads because they almost feel like a struggle to eat. I remember when I first started seeing the breads with the number of grains. First I heard about 3, then 5 then I heard about 7. Then I saw a news report about Obama eating a sandwich at a restaurant on 12-grain bread! So before I wrote this comic I went to google to see what was the highest grain bread I could find and last one was 16 grain. Next logical conclusion is people deciding they don’t want any bread at all and just go for the grains.

Last week we got our blood test results back from our physical checkups. I haven’t had a checkup in several years, but I think I’m in good health. Still there was always this nagging paranoia in the back of my head that maybe even though I’m at a normal weight and feel like I eat well that maybe somehow I’d have high cholesterol or something would be totally off the chart. They called me up and said everything was normal.
Then they called Anna and told her *specific* numbers for stuff like cholesterol which was odd because I was just told “normal.” So I called back to get numbers to see where I was on the grand scale of cholesterol levels. Also at the checkups I knew that my blood pressure was normal, in fact it was basically the example of average blood pressure that I found on websites.
What we were discussing getting our results was that the funny thing about getting these numbers is it’s probably the closest sort of thing that people in real life have to video game RPG stats. In RPGs you have numbers for all sorts of things like: vitality, hit points, agility, charm, magic points, strength, defense etc. But there are very few things in real life that you can assign numbers to in this fashion. So after getting all our results we were wondering how we compared to other people so we could compare stats. Like “Oh this person I work with is overweight I wonder how far their numbers are from mine” etc.
Long story short, I guess our eating habits are fine, and eating tonkotsu ramen every other week doesn’t throw our numbers off the chart. I mean, we mostly make our own food which I know is better than eating out all the time. So it’s business as usual, but with medical proof that what we’re doing is ok

This was the first time I’ve ever had an X-Ray taken without any sort of lead shielding. Though I guess since it was a chest X-Ray there’s not much that they’d shield except my legs I guess? The plate on the wall which held the film literally looked like there was a target on it.

Ever since I was little I’ve been somewhat apprehensive whenever I have to give a sample at checkups. The reason being that one time when I was a kid I didn’t hear any specific instructions about what to do with it and ended up bringing it back to the office of the doctor instead of leaving it in the bathroom. My mom immediately told me that I wasn’t supposed to bring it back.
The doctor’s office I went to this time had this really cool yet simple thing which I had never seen before. The bathroom had this two-way cubby where the person in the bathroom could put the sample, then someone on the outside could open the door there and retrieve it. Apparently this is a common thing in Japan, but I had never seen one before. I feel kind of silly, but that was probably the most interesting part of going to the doctor for my physical.

So instead of making up a comic about being in the waiting room thought I’d draw this out a bit so that tomorrow’s comic can be made with real material instead of me trying to come up with some doctor office story.
Before I left work I finished off some left over spaghetti & meatballs (it was too much for lunch), and after Japanese class I go a slice of pizza with mushrooms and spinach. Then with my last five minutes I ate some Ritz Crackers. After that I should’ve done the smart thing by doing my comic and then going to bed. Instead I played Picross 3D for a few hours and did my comic starting around midnight. As I write this I’m feeling really hungry already so it’s time to go to bed.

I was going to save this comic for tomorrow so that the timing would work out that I can do my comic after my appointment, but I overslept and only had a half hour to do my comic and this is the only idea I had saved up.
As of 9:00 pm tonight I can’t have anything but water. I have Japanese class at 7:00 pm which means I usually have dinner when I get home at 9:00. So most likely I’ll be trying out this pizza place near my class that always torments me with its delicious smell wafting through the air.

I check the Yahoo! News capsule every now and then for some headlines, but also things like this catch my eye. According to this article a bagel with cream cheese has 700 calories in it. After some googling of other sites it looks like it’s anywhere from 400 to 800 calories. This person on WikiAnswers specifically asked about a New York bagel. Whatever, I exercise regularly and have been having a bagel as breakfast for years now so I don’t worry, but if I’m feeling my metabolism slowly I certainly won’t forget this.

Yes I know it’s a terrible thing to do after lots of exercise but damn if it isn’t refreshing. Obviously drinking alcohol when you’re dehydrated is just about the worst thing you can do, but that doesn’t stop my kung fu school from doing it. There are three things I think I really developed a taste for from there: Chinese tea, watermelon and beer.
Of course I liked beer before I started there but it was never a refreshing beverage. Chinese tea just because there’s always a pot and I don’t always carry water and watermelon ’cause watermelon is ridiculously delicious when you’ve been working out. Not that I have a beer after every class, it’s just something we do occasionally during the Summer.

It’s not that I don’t actually know why, because I have a good idea why. They just don’t want to be “the bad guy” throwing perfectly good food away. Until it’s in their hands, the idea of the bagel with cream cheese doesn’t exist yet so it’s okay for the deli guy to scoop out a little bit of bagel and then give it to the customer. Seriously though, I’ve seen some of these guys “scoop” out the bagel and they don’t take out that much. Nowadays I never finish my entire bagel because I’m too full (or the bagel isn’t so good after it’s hard and cold).
