Ages ago I brought my own metal spoon to work for when I’m eating lunch I bring to work. At some point it mysteriously vanished. So I brought another spoon and a day or two afterwards found it in the sink meaning someone else was using it. Is it naive of me to think that people when eating lunch will look at a spoon and say “Hey, this isn’t my spoon I will not use this.” I know what spoon is mine and I know that the spoons aren’t property of the company and therefore not communal. Is this just me or is this a little gross?

Few words can describe the horror upon opening that microwave. I hate wasting food, but the idea that food that I made had to be wasted and die a horribly smelly smelly death is even worse.

Really, before I balked at the minimum requirements some people deemed necessary for public urination. Before this incident I thought that the minimum requirement was probably a corner. The corner could be between trash can and a wall, or it could be within one of those I beam columns in the subway or a telephone booth (no bottom mind you). But no, it turns out that the minimum requirement for public urination is a wall that you can turn against in broad daylight.
Though even as I type this I realize that there are some people out there that won’t even give that courtesy.

That’s right, now I’ve seen people sharing TWO sets of headphones at the same time. This time it was two guys though. I suppose they could’ve been a couple but they looked more like they were just friends.

I guess Winter is the time to check out all the dog urination hotspots. Then again, I bet they change all the time because they have to mark new areas. When you really think about it though, there’s probably not an inch of the sidewalk that hasn’t been touched by the urine of a dog or person some point throughout history.

I’m sorry, I wouldn’t keep doing these butter strips if it didn’t keep on happening like this! It’s like because I keep complaining forces are conspiring against me to shove it in my face! This was yesterday at the deli. Obviously to butter a sub you need to take out a lot more butter than just for a couple slices of bread. Actually the first weekend of the U.S. Open I went to dinner with a bunch of friends. The guy from couple sitting across from me took an ENTIRE PAT OF BUTTER for one piece of bread from the table! Twice.

This was an old idea I had stored away. I don’t precisely remember the details of the guy that inspired it, but this is a sandwich I usually get when I don’t have leftovers for lunch. Smoked turkey on a roll with lettuce, tomato, avocado and provolone. Mmmm, avocado…In fact the last time I got this the woman behind me said “Hey that sounds really good!” and she then proceeded to add avocado to her sandwich.

My middle sister did this to me once, and when I saw a guy clipping his nails in the subway car I wanted to do the same to him. Perhaps not as bad as the guy who will throw his trash out the door when the train stops but in my opinion still disrespectful of the people around you. I don’t understand why don’t all nail clippers have the little plastic attachment that catches the nails so you don’t have to worry about them flying around everywhere.
I remember YEARS ago when my oldest sister was in Japan (I think more than ten years ago) she told me about a nail clipper she bought there with that exact device. Only problem is she didn’t realize until much later that it was collecting all her nails so when she opened it she got a rather unpleasant surprise. I think later in college I was looking around Pearl River (before its new location on Broadway) and bought the nail clipper I have which has the nail catcher, but I never saw them before then. I think you can get one at Duane Reade at the cashier where all the candy is.

Sometimes I absent-mindedly slide down or up the railing in the subway station. Then I pull myself back and think about it for a bit, then realize that no one else around me touches the railing unless absolutely necessary. Or I’ll be holding onto the rail in the subway car, idly wipe my forehead and then use the rail again. Just think, a guy might as well have licked it because there were probably hundreds of people touching that same rail all day long. Even if I see subway workers cleaning the station that doesn’t help because I know they clean everything with giant brooms which were used to clean the rest of the station. Okay I’m grossing myself out, I don’t want to think about this any further.
