Actually I do the comforter hug where at most half of my body is underneath. Then I let my asleep self decide whether it’s too hot or cold by moving the comforter as needed.

Yesterday was around 80 degrees so I cleaned the filters in our apartment air conditioners only to find out that the fan for the bedroom a/c wouldn’t turn on. Immediately I start imagining throwing out what looks like a perfectly good 2 year old machine out because the repair cost could be super high. I even know someone who fixes a/c’s but this is what I was imagining.
Computers and software at least I know where to start, but with appliances I’m mostly lost. So I did a quick Google search and saw some people suggesting that the fan might be stuck. I wasn’t sure if they were even talking about the same model, but I figured I didn’t have anything to lose. So I got something to poke at the fan blade and when I turned it on IT WORKED!
That was a relief, because during the process of examining the a/c I was picturing myself as the old dad who thinks he can fix stuff but ends up breaking it making it more expensive to fix when the pro comes over.

Believe it or not I do still try my best to conserve despite my electricity bill being included in my rent, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t awesome not to have to worry about it during the summertime. We just got really really lucky with this apartment and plan on staying here for a while because we’d be fools not to. Plus we’ve been here over a year and still haven’t “finished” it

It’s criminally hot in my office. I’m pretty sure most offices whose primary means of conducting business is via lots of video equipment are usually very well air conditioned all year round. My office is the exception. The room I’m in has no windows and has several computers, digibeta decks, large hard drives which are on during the day constantly spewing hot air. It’s amazing that stepping across the threshold of the hallway to my room yields what feels like a temperature difference of at least ten degrees. I have a mini portable fan blowing in my face all day.
Needless to say it’s unpleasant, and also really hard to work during the day. This week though we’ve had some really warm temperatures and the surrounding rooms are getting hotter (though still not nearly as hot as my room) so there’s been talk of turning the air conditioning on. But like I said in the strip they need special a/c guys to turn on the a/c because of something that happens in the 6 months it’s been since it was last one that makes it impossible for us to do it ourselves.

Last night I got back from Otakon and it was very cool with a nice breeze. Even if not comparing to the sticky heat of Baltimore it was a very cool night. I don’t actively try to waste energy but it would be nice to be able to use the a/c when it’s a hot and sweltering day.

We installed our new a/c without killing anyone. Pretty much all of this is true. The curtains on the side were illustrated without the distinguishing characteristics, some of the screws didn’t look quite the same, the installation also called for screwing into what I’m sure they expected to be a wooden window, and it took a few minutes to find the “control handle.”
But once again, an a/c was installed without a fatality or damage to the unit *knock on wood*

Time to start bringing a shirt to work. I had thought the a/c was on, but the sheer power of all the machines in my room at work spewing hot air was negating it. Turns out even those are no match for the a/c. The air temperature is just never good in my room. Still, I’d rather be cold than too hot.

This weekend if you were in New York was really really really freakin’ hot. Like, hottest days of the year so far. First time I’ve turned on my air conditioner all year, and yet the night before I was saying how a T-shirt wasn’t sufficient enough and I was kind of cold. I realized that I’ve done a ton of comics complaining about heat so it was really hard to find something else that I hadn’t made a comic about yet.
This does happen whenever I open my gym bag which has been in the office and it’s noticeably cooler inside the bag than it is outside. I’ve briefly pondered luxuriating in the air in a fashion similar to this but have never actually done it.

The 34th street station at Broadway is the most swelteringly scorching hot and humid subway station I’ve experienced on a regular basis. It can be fine wearing a sweatshirt outdoors, but once you step in you want to strip down to a shirt and shorts. I’ve found a couple places within a few feet of each other where there’s some a/c except it’s not on a platform unfortunately.
