Friends of mine got married in the Netherlands while they live in the UK, so they explicitly stated "all gifts must be either money or lightweight and flat, so they can all together fit in carry-on luggage" :-)

Yes it's true, Little Italy and Chinatown in Manhattan is mostly a tourist trap. Little Italy usually consists of guys on the street trying to get you to eat at their place. Plus lots of posters of Scarface, Tony Soprano etc.

The thing though is that if you're in the "real" Chinatown sections of Manhattan then those are the places people are less likely to speak English or be hospitable towards tourists. Queens Chinatown is much bigger than Manhattan but not a touristy place. Brooklyn Chinatown is similar.

I walked trough little Italy in Manhattan and found it to be mostly tourist trap. Next to that, we went trough chinatown, but either I was in the wrong neighbourhood or something else was wrong, as there were 0 shops open during the evening, and most shops were business to business. Absolutely no people on the street. Compared to that, Chinatown in Toronto was much cooler!

I here that. Where I'm from it was 110 at least 3-4 times a week on average, accompanied by 80% humidity.

But then again the building manager could be just saying that to coax you to move there. ;)

Supposedly even the Summers aren't so bad. The building manager of our new apartment said that he only used his a/c a few days out of the year. I'm guessing the dryness really helps out, because when it's super humid, that heat just stays in the air and sticks to you.

There's uh...that thing, um...I really don't know what's there either.

But a change from the cold is always nice, until summer hits...

Tell me all about it. I had 50 boxes full of ... stuff when I moved here, which was one truck full. Then I had some leftovers, which I thought fit easily in the trunk of my car. In the end, I rented a trailer, which was full to the brim. I have a serious keeping problem...
