Seriously, cooking and making your own food is good just because it’s good to know stuff about what you’re eating. It’s very easy to think of food as something that’s like an element that is just itself instead of something comprised of ingredients that may or may not be good for you in certain quantities.

The first time I made ice cream and realized that it was mostly cream I sort of thought to myself “Uhhh, what did I expect?” but it was something I had just never thought of before. Yet I still think a cup of heavy cream in baked ziti seems like a lot even though I’ll basically have a cup of heavy cream for dessert, just in ice cream.
