This is a slightly truncated version of the call I received from NYU asking for donations. Of the major universities, NYU has some of the lowest alumni participation at a wopping 11%, whereas others are around 30%. The person on the phone made sure to mention this as they were asking me for donations even though they knew perfectly well that I’m unemployed.

I know they’re working from a call script, but there should be some alert that if the person says they’re unemployed that you should not grill them for money because it will probably make them want to donate even less than they already do.
