Been getting deeper into Final Cut Pro X with some projects that I’m working on. The thing that I’m finding is that there are a lot of cool features underneath the veneer of its iMovie origins and its design directed towards a more consumer/prosumer audience.

The problem is that once I find a cool feature there’s even more annoying features that just make me question the whole thing. Clearly there are people on the Final Cut Pro X team who know some things that editors want in their software, but they’re being outshouted by people who name the still image animation tool “The Ken Burns Effect.

Anyway, one cool feature that I found recently was that when the audio meters peak, the red boxes indicating that it’s gone over have db numbers in them which tell you how far over they went. Very nifty.
