I was driving in an area about 20 minutes North East of San Diego and there really was just about nothing in every direction. We weren’t even that far out, but it was pretty much just fields. Fields and the strongest 4G LTE signal I’ve gotten so far from my Sprint phone.

My guess is they start away from the populated areas so that the network holds up, because if they launched in an area with lots of people and it failed then people would say Sprint’s 4G is terrible.
