While I was at the farmer’s market buying some cheap eggs I saw a woman at the booth say something like what the character says in the first panel. Initially I was thinking “Well it’s just marketing b.s., of course the chickens are vegetarian.” Then after doing research I realized I was half right, because obviously chickens eat bugs and worms (also found out they can eat snakes and mice too!??)

So I was right about the “vegetarian” label being b.s. marketing that sounds good to someone who doesn’t think about it too hard. And yes, they are cheap eggs, the shells are a lot thinner than organic eggs and the more I think about it, the more I realize maybe I should just pay the extra few bucks and get the nicer eggs.
