Yes, this is me. I try my best to avoid ATM fees unless absolutely necessary. Yet lately I’ve been eating out for lunch much more often than I ordinarily do. Making your own food is the easiest way to save a TON of money yet the only thing I’ve been religiously doing to save money lately has been to save $1.50 in ATM fees. Time to get back on the ball.

Bank of america actually charges me like 250 to use a different banks ATM fee on top of what the other bank charges me so I actually save like 5 bucks when I use a BoA ATM…. yay? ಠ_ಠ
when it comes to ATM fees, i never understood why folks don’t store at least some amount of cash in the home… it solves a couple of problems: (1) you never have to worry about going to a “foreign” bank and incur fees, and (2) you have some reserve funds in the event of an emergency. not saying there’s a need to store 10k under the mattress, but why not store 1-2k at home in some hidden location…?
YEESH! Well in that case it’s no small amount :/
Hmmm, I think if I had lots of cash even hidden somewhere in my apartment it would make me feel weird and insecure. Also, I think I like having only a certain amount of cash around so that I feel like I might be less prone to spending a lot.
I’ll be you aren’t making lunch because you are feeling the luxury of being employed.
Regarding keeping a stash of cash at home, I like to keep about $100 precisely so I don’t need to go to foreign ATMs, although my bank reimburses me up to $5 a month for foreign ATM fees, although that doesn’t go as far as it used to. (Yay for, Cambridge Savings Bank!). The other thing I do is I fold the last twenty dollar bill in my wallet lengthwise, so when I have to unfold and use it, it reminds me to replenish my cash in my wallet so I’m not caught w/o cash. (I hate paying for things under $10 with a credit card. I know I’m old school, but it seems so silly, also I try to use cash at mom and pop stores because those credit card fees really take a bite out their profits.)
Exactly my way of doing things ;D
