I treat Anna’s cat “Inari” like I do my plush toys, I give her a voice. Whenever Inari is doing something or giving a funny look I have a cat voice that I talk in that says what I imagine she’s thinking. Since Anna has had Inari since she came to the U.S. that means Inari speaks in Japanese of course.
I was thinking the other day that humans can approximate what a cat’s meow is pretty closely, but I wonder what it sounds like to a cat. It’s possible that there are subtleties in a cat’s meow that are completely missed by humans to the point that they sound like gibberish to cats just like it would be gibberish if cats tried to talk like us.

Oh god, this is one of the rare comics on here that really make me laugh heartily. I should stop talking to my cats in their language, I must look like a complete dork.
