With the exception of receiving no raises in the last two years I made it through this economic downturn relatively unscathed. That is until now. As of Friday last week I am no longer amongst the gainfully employed. The good news is that I’m very happy about this! For various reasons it’s been a very long time since I last genuinely enjoyed my job. A lot of my co-workers were also laid off in the past year, and all of them are happier for it. Hopefully I follow suit, but I don’t anticipate that being a problem.
Today is my first weekday completely unemployed and I intend to enjoy it
I think I finally made it over the hump in Mass Effect (finally I can travel between planets) so I anticipate immersing myself into that universe in the coming weeks.

Aw darn I feel kinda bad for you though.
They been cutting down my hours and my raise stank [due to my bad attitude, yet my work is always done] last year.
Well I hope you get back amongst the employed! ^^
As a steady reader who has also been unemployed (and in my case, for far too long), I am very sorry to hear that. I hope you find new work soon. Be sure to immediately file for unemployment benefits.
I was unemployed for a while last year, it is exciting the idea of change and restarting with something different. But like Mike said – get on benefits! I couldn’t claim any benefits and I ended up homeless for a while! It’s tough cookies but best of luck finding a new and more enjoyable job ^^ ~~~~~~~
Thanks everyone for the encouragement ^_^
Hopefully I can find a great job for a company that I believe in and really feel motivated to do my best for.
But until then, I think my Xbox Gamerscore is going to get a significant boost in the coming weeks. Right now IT’S OVER 9000!!!! (yes, I’m a giant nerd)
I hope to see any time soon a strip about getting a new job.
How unfortunate.
Good Luck finding a new job~!
So, no more of the classic desk strip from now on? Aw…
Since I have no intention of depicting any new job I get in my comic, the desk strips may return someday!
I once got laid off and I quit my current job two weeks ago – so far nothing but good things have come out of those two end-of-jobs! I feel with your positive attitude it will stay the same.
Btw with *your* I mean Derek, not “the dude” – though he was allways very grumpy in the beginning, lately he’s become quite friendly
Good luck to you, dude. The comics are awesome.
But also, depending what job you do get, maybe you should depict in the comics. Especially if you want to work in a factory or something, or in a restaurant. Wherever you are, chances are that a lot of absolutely priceless moments will come up that are work-related which are too juicy to resist putting down on paper.
