As much as I love gadgets I always like it when analog solutions prevail over high technology. We were in the supermarket thinking about making salad dressing. While Anna was looking up a recipe on her phone I picked up a bottle to look at ingredients. Of course, looking at ingredients doesn’t make a recipe, but if we had no smartphone it would’ve been a good cheat sheet.

Here’s Jacques Pepin’s recipe for mustard vinaigrette. It’s excellent. You can substitute something else from the onion family if you have no garlic.
1-2 cloves garlic peeled and minced (give it a good whack w/the side of the knife to loosen the ski)
1/4-1/3 c. extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp (or less to taste) of vinegar (wine or rice, doesn’t matter)
2 Tbsp. mustard
salt and pepper to test
Whisk well and use sparingly. Especially w/the garlic, the flavor goes a long way.
