I was walking through Chinatown and when I passed this woman handing out Chinese fliers she held the back. I don’t remember if there was a white person between me and her or not. Maybe I just look that much like an ABC (American Born Chinese) that she knew I wouldn’t be interested. Or maybe it was something specifically for women who knows? Anyway, I imagine they’re not going to waste their time handing out Chinese fliers to white people on the chance that they might be able to read it. Chinese people still occasionally ask me directions in Chinese, but usually I can’t understand what they’re saying. If I tried talking to them now I’d probably respond in Japanese. Right now that’s the only language the foreign language section of my brain is capable of processing or saying.
