This happens periodically when hanging out with people. Sort of like the scar scene in Jaws except not nearly as dramatic. I don’t have so many keys, it would probably be more interesting to explain keychains and their origins. Anyway, yesterday was one of the very few times living my apartment that I tried to use the wrong key to open my door. When I got it my apartment door key was always the shiniest because they replaced the doors in my building. But it’s very noticeable how the key in question has lost its sheen over the years.

I’m always fascinated by things that change very very gradually but you know what caused it. Like, how in old buildings with stone stairways the middle section of each step is worn away from years upon years of people’s shoes wearing the stone away a few particles or molecules at a time.
