There’s this girl I pass in the morning on the way to my subway stop. I’ve often thought of introducing myself and then pursuing no further conversation. When I thought a little past that idea I realized that a situation such as this would arise. We might feel obligated to make more eye contact, wave or smile just because we know each others names, but have no further connection. This disuaded me from the decision. Plus the look she gives all the time isn’t one of playful recognition, more like “Oh, it’s that guy again.”
