I went to Prospect Park yesterday with the firm goal of finally going to the lake. I’ve been all over the northwest section of the park and I went to the zoo, but I still hadn’t seen the lake. The walk ended up being a lot longer than I had originally intended, but that meant I covered a lot more ground.
I started by walking to the bagel store to get a bagel with cream cheese and lox, then walked to the lake to eat it. Some areas around the lake were more densely populated than others with screaming kids and the like, but I got a lot of good pictures. I also saw a red winged blackbird which used to be my favorite bird in first grade. I got an okay picture, but it wasn’t as good as one I could’ve gotten had my camera been ready when it settled down three feet away from me.
A friend had told me about the paddleboats they have there which I’ll have to try out at some point with a friend, and I didn’t realize there was a skating rink there too. Actually scratch that, I had heard about the skating rink.
Walking around really made me want a bike, but I wouldn’t want to ride it anywhere else but the park. The whole walk from when I left my apartment to when I got back ended up being about two and a half hours. Which is good because then I can spend a lot of the rest of the weekend indoors without feeling I let the good weather go to a complete waste. The main reason it was so long was because I did a complete circle around the lake when I actually only mean to go from the south side to the north, woops.
