I was watching the Oscars with two of my friends and we were doing this pretty much all night. If you think about it, the show is pretty racist in this fashion. I don’t know how much more predictable this show can get if we’re anticipating the cutaways after certain comments are made by actors of a specific race.
Chris Rock was very good, I was kind of disappointed he didn’t get some more jokes in. When I heard that they were going to save time by presenting some awards at the seats I was waiting for the thing they added in which would make the show still too long. But I was pleasantly surprised when it ended around 11:30.
Hilary Swank made a noble effort to be this year’s Oscar clip, but Jamie Foxx stole that one away from her. I don’t know how everyone else’s Oscar party was but mine was puncutated during commercial breaks by watching random clips from the internet including Everything is Gay, the fake Super Mario Bros. 3 speed movie, and the webcam guy lip-syncing to the Romanian boy band music. Plus this hilarious clip of a Home Shopping Network guy really hurting himself with a cheap sword which took me a while to find.
A couple of small notes about the Oscars
1. Why were they playing Star Trek music after Morgan Freeman’s Oscar?
2. Apparently when you do a film like “The Pacifier” the next logical step is to play a lawyer with really weird hair.
3. Two words. Dogs. Bollocks.
4. Why play music from The Terminator after The Aviator won for best cinematography?
