I’d say it’s definitely debatable if the pedestrian traffic in Times Square is better or worse than that of Chinatown. The thing is that Chinatown has sidewalks that are at least half the size of those in Times Square. Though in Times Square you don’t usually encounter those bottlenecks where you literally can’t move for a few moments. Most people in Chinatown speak Cantonese, so I can’t even pick up a word here and there when I’m walking around. Even though my Mandarin isn’t that good, there’s something comforting about being able to understand what people around you are saying.
