As a friend of mine said “I never thought the Academy doing what it should do could be so boring.” Though much as I love Lord of the Rings perhaps just blindly giving every Oscar they were nominated for wasn’t the way to go. It’s all highly subjective, and also something like this just goes to show that not all awards (if any) are based off of merit alone.
