Whenever I visited my family I would always return to the city with at least two meals worth of fried rice (my favorite food my mom cooks). But seeing as it was Thanksgiving I left with considerably more food than usual. I think I had a big bag of frozen dumplings, some pie, some gelatinous rice cake stuff and lots of turkey. It took me a while to get through it all, and it was only a few weeks later that I was back home getting more food to bring back to New York.
Going home was fun, except that we had a dial-up modem which drove me insane. I couldn’t even download quicktime movies without leaving the computer, running some errands and then coming back to it to watch it (lowest resolution, mind you). Plus the whole everything closed late at night thing was really irritating. I have a friend who gets off work rather late so by the time we wanted to hang out we’d have to go to one of our houses or go see a midnight movie otherwise there was nowhere to hang out.
