I still have my old Gameboy which I got when I was in fourth grade. It’s missing the protective screen but it still works like the day I got it. Sure there’s dirt on the back from all those hours of sweaty hand useage, and it takes four batteries instead of two, but it still works dammit! I went through a period of time where I was playing a lot of Tetris on the subway. I think my secret hope was to bond with someone (preferable a girl of course) over having an older Gameboy instead of a newer one.

Everyone has their game that they can kick everyone’s ass at, and Tetris is mine. I’m sure that there are people out there that could school me at Tetris but for the most part I can play a mean game of Tetris. I used to use the secret code which added the heart to the levels so that I could train myself for when the levels get more difficult. I would always start single person games on level 9 and if I didn’t get four or five Tetrises in a row then I would restart the game. I wish I had recorded my highest score. I know it was definitely over 300,000 but I swear that I’ve done better than that before.
