I like thinking of fantasy movies with real life situations up to a point. If I enjoy a film enough I don’t go around nit-picking how something in Lord of the Rings would be physically impossible in real life. I’m not going to complain that the Uruk-hai in Two Towers say “Looks like meat’s back on our menu boys” when clearly these orcs have probably never seen a food menu in their life. But the thought of Elves living for so long I imagine they must have a large number of relationships during that time. Or maybe since there are fewer of them than there are humans (or so it would seem from my limited knowledge) that they’re even pickier than humans are. Their though processes might steer towards more of “Well, all eternity with this person. Could I reallly see that?” Curious.
