I don’t have any core sort of things I like to do in order to test out how fast a computer is, but it’s irritating to want to get on a new computer and have a person in front of you checking their email on it. When the 30 inch monitor came out I looked for a Quicktime trailer to watch, plus opened a million web pages. It occurs to me I should’ve opened dozens of windows and then used Exposé to shrink them all down. Crap, I think I have to do that next time I’m at the Apple Store.

I had a friend whose dad would test the speed of old PCs by playing solitaire and seeing how fast the cards moved after he won. Unfortunately that sort of thing doesn’t work anymore, oh well.
